Audiofrequency Measurement of Jfet Noise Vs . Temperature in a High Impedance Preamplifier
We describe a high impedance audiofrequency preamplifier and present au-diofrequency noise spectra for 2N4416 and U311 JF'ET's, in a temperature range from room temperature to 80O.K. It is found that optimum noise performance is obtained at-140'K. We present an analysis of some of the sources of noise. Amplifier input capacitance is a.lso measured and discussed.

Introduction Array coils for MRI use highly reflective, low-noise preamplifiers to boost signal levels while minimizing, respectively, inductive coupling [1] and added noise. The noise factor [2], i.e., the loss of SNR due to noise added by the preamp (or noise figure, NF, when expressed in dB) depends on the admittance seen by the preamplifier's input, Ys = Gs + iBs, according to the expressio...
متن کاملMeasurement Noise versus Process Noise in Ionosphere Estimation for WAAS
One of the parameters driving the performance of the Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) is the Grid Ionospheric Vertical Error (GIVE). The GIVE bounds the estimation error of the ionospheric delay at each Ionospheric Grid Point (IGP). The GIVE is generated such that a user interpolating both the vertical ionospheric delays at the IGP and the GIVE, is protected. The GIVE is a function of sever...
متن کاملAcoustic temperature measurement in a rocket noise field.
A 1 μm diameter platinum wire resistance thermometer has been used to measure temperature fluctuations generated during a static GEM-60 rocket motor test. Exact and small-signal relationships between acoustic pressure and acoustic temperature are derived in order to compare the temperature probe output with that of a 3.18 mm diameter condenser microphone. After preliminary plane wave tests yiel...
متن کاملA Noise-Temperature Measurement System Using a Cryogenic Attenuator
Accurate and rapid noise-temperature measurements are critical to the modeling and development of high electron mobility transistor (HEMT) cryogenically cooled amplifiers. Four different techniques have been used in the laboratory to make noise-temperature measurements of cryogenically cooled amplifiers, and each of these is described below. Following this, the cryogenic pad method, the method ...
